Covid-19 Update – June 2022

Where exactly are we at as far as Covid-19 precautions go?  Please read on to find out:

Masks

  • Masks are no longer mandated in public indoor settings in the province of BC.  This means that you are not required to wear a mask, either inside the cabin or outside.
  • There are free masks available if you prefer to wear a mask.
  • There is ONE EXCEPTION to this “rule”:  There will be a 15 minute orientation (inside the cabin) at the beginning of the tour.  We ask everyone to wear a mask during the orientation and can provide free masks if needed. Please let us know in advance if you have concerns about this.  If you do, we can seat you outside on the back deck (during the orientation only). We may update this policy depending on the situation at the time.

Cleaning and sanitising

  • We are continuing with extra cleaning and sanitizing duties before, during and after each tour.
  • Hand sanitizer is available at various locations on the boat.

Physical distancing/ space on the boat

  • Physical distancing is no longer required but there is enough room to keep some distance from others if you wish.
  • At lunch time tables will be set up outside and slightly apart to allow you to distance from others if you wish.
  • Please mention any concerns to us when you book, so that we can ensure your safety and comfort.

Most importantly

  • Please be mindful of other guests’ comfort level as some have good reason to be more cautious. That way we can all enjoy the day aboard our beautiful boat to its fullest!
  • Alan & Toddy (owner operators) are fully vaccinated.

We look forward to welcoming you aboard the “Raincoast Maiden”!

And so the 2022 Season has begun

We are now open for the 2022 Season!  We’ve been out on a couple of tours and have thoroughly enjoyed being out on these waters after a long winter off.

Don’t miss the opportunity to join us for a day of wildlife viewing and breathtaking scenery. Our award winning tour follows a scenic route through the sheltered waters of the Broken Group Islands where you’ll be served you a delicious gourmet lunch while anchored in a sheltered cove, meal prepared by Heartwood Kitchen Restaurant in Ucluelet.

Have a look through our website to book or find out more about our tours.

Office with a View!

What I really mean when I say “I’m not in the office right now.

Could I take your number and call back later?”

Our Picturesque New Location

We love our new location at the Canadian Princess Lodge & Marina, located at 1943 Peninsula Rd.

Heading Home

After an unexpected delay we finally left Victoria harbour yesterday morning to make the journey up the West coast. There are MANY waves to cross along the way but luckily the weather was (mostly) in our favour. The Raincoast Maiden arrived in Ucluelet this afternoon, safe and sound. We’re thrilled to be back! Our tours will start on May 4th.

Getting the Raincoast Maiden shipshape!

Some days we do wish our boat was smaller. The hull seems HUGE at times like this when every square inch, above and below the water line, demands attention!

No Lazy Off Season For Us

So … do we get to just sit around and relax all winter long? No, not exactly.

Right now the salon of the Raincoast Maiden has been transformed into a work zone as we’re oiling, wetsanding, painting, cleaning, polishing ….oh, and I see Alan is replacing a light in the hall.

It is not all work though as we always do manage to escape for a while.
