Breakfast on the Beach

Some days our tour just starts off perfectly …… with a black bear rolling over rocks along the shore to look for crabs underneath.

Dine “With The Birds”

We love the time of year in the spring when we are visited by hummingbirds while anchored in the Broken Group Islands at lunch time. Our guests literally get to “dine with the birds”.

End of our 2017 Season

Our 2017 season is now well behind us. It is with some sadness that we left beautiful Barkley Sound about 2 weeks ago to take the Raincoast Maiden down the coast to Sidney where she is now safely tucked into a boat house. We will be working on her here, getting her ship shape for next year!

Still Open For Business!

We’re still open for business and the weather forecast for the next few days looks great! A glimpse of what to expect as seen through the lens of Gerry Fairbrother who came out with us on Sept. 23rd. Thanks, Gerry, for letting me share these – it was hard to pick only a few.

Lazy Days

Sometimes I feel like that too at the end of a busy day!

Frequent Sea Otter Sightings

This year we have been seeing sea otters increasingly often, almost daily.  Here is toda’s friendly sea otter!

Orcas AND cake

Yesterday’s lucky guests were treated not only to a fabulous sighting of five Orcas but to also to delicious birthday cake!

Thanks to Barbara Lee, a regular guest, who knew it was the captain’s birthday and ordered a birthday cake for all to enjoy at lunch time while at anchor.  The cake, shaped like the Raincoast Maiden sailing off into the sunset, was masterfully crafted by Zoe’s Bakery in Ucluelet.

Now open for the 2017 season!

Our 2017 season has officially begun!  We have run a few cruises this past week and as always, it feels great to be out on the water again.

Seals are hard not to love!

Seals are very much of a presence on our trips as we go to several haul outs. I often feel they are underrated, except by children who LOVE them, especially their big, soulful eyes.
